Duke earned this — Marissa Young's Blue Devils were on the brink in Durham, losing to Arizona 10-1 on Saturday before rattling off three straight wins (11-1 over Marshall, then back-to-back 8-6 and 9-4 finals over Arizona) to flip the regional. Arkansas swept Fayetteville 3-0 with a 27-3 run margin: 8-0 Fordham, 9-1 South Florida, 10-2 South Florida in the title. Bogle Park is one of the toughest road environments in the country, and the Razorback lineup is deeper than anything Duke saw all year — fresh arms vs. a Duke staff that just threw 5 games in 3 days.
Curd is a different look than anything Arkansas saw all SEC season — lefty, lower velo, more spin. But after a 3-loss-elimination grind in Durham, Duke's staff is gassed. Razorback bats find the bottom by Game 2.
